Spyouts

Spyouts

A few years back, our extended family absolutely fell in love with Among Us, a sneaky little game where you work together, until you don't. You run around the ship, completing tasks, until it's time to sabotage each other and go for the win. If that sounds like fun, you might want to give Spyouts from Fambamgames a closer look.

How it works: It's time for the big spy tryouts, (get it, Spyouts?!), and all the best spies are here to impress. Each player stars with cards in their hands, and codes to solve on the table. To solve a code, all you've got to do is collect the three digits needed. Of course, action cards and sabotage are waiting around each corner to thwart your plans.

Why it's clever: If you follow the blog, you've know we LOVE a game that's easy to learn and hard to win. Spyouts has that, the rules video is under a minute, the game is easy to play, and you'll be shouting at your family within a few hands. A fun touch: when an action card shows up in the middle of the table, the player that's quickest to SLAP the card wins it (ala Slap, or ERS, always a blog favorite).

When you play an action card, you can completely upend someone's strategy, but the game is so quick and easy enough that things move on and you can start rebuilding quickly (this is important when playing with kids, who sometimes can be a little doom-and-gloom when you clobber them).

Price: $20

Bonus: if this game seems like your style, Fambamgames has a whole line of similar titles, which all look worth checking out. This is one we backed on Kickstarter, so always keep an eye out!
