Wavelength

A social guessing game where two teams compete to read each other's minds

Wavelength

We've talked about it before, but I'm a big game show guy. Particularly games where you guess popular answers, even if they aren't the right answers. Games like Family Feud and America Says are in constant rotation in this house. If you've ever wondered how your friends think, Wavelength is here to meld everyone's minds.

How it works: Divide into two teams. Get ready to bicker, because each gameplay card has two ends of a spectrum, think: dark and light, happy and sad, normal thing to own and weird thing to own. There's a big dial wheel with a variable target inside, and you'll be tasked with giving a clue that perfectly lands in the zone of the two card words. Exactly how happy? Wait, is that weird to own?

Why it's clever: After the clue is given, the dial wheel is snapped closed, so the guessing team can't see the target. And now it's time to argue! As a team, you must haggle and decide how much/less to crank the red needle, hoping to align with the hidden target zone underneath. It's an incredibly unique mechanic, and it leads to incredibly unique shenanigans.

Price: $32

Bonus: this one is published by CMYK Games, a favorite here on the blog. They also have Android and iOS app versions of the game, which you can find on the Wavelength site.
